The parish council has found out that there is a burst water pipe on Church Street. The water is running away underground. This makes the water authority nervous because it could erode the road and cause it to collapse.
Church Street is closed near the junction with Low Road this afternoon whilst a repair is made. The diversion sends traffic down Victoria Terrace!
The parish council's advice is to avoid this diversion if you know of an alternative safe route. Even if your route will add 5+ miles to your journey, it will save you the stress of trying to take it in turns to drive down Victoria Terrace - a single track road that's about 100m long.
Tonight half of the road will be open again. Tomorrow the road will be closed until the hole has been filled in and the road re-surfaced.
